Jacques Adnet was a leading figure in French modernist design. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he became director of the Compagnie des Arts Français in 1928, where he developed an elegant and refined language characterized by essential forms and fine materials. A designer of furniture, interiors, and important architectural projects, including those for the Élysée Palace and the 1937 Paris World's Fair, Adnet left a significant mark on the history of 20th-century French design.
